Chef Khim – From Food Truck to Local Favorite

Originally from Laos and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Chef Khim found his passion for cooking at a young age. He began his culinary journey at Bangkok Restaurant in Columbus, sharpening his skills in Thai cuisine. Over the years, he expanded his experience preparing Asian dishes at Yuki Japanese Steakhouse and Oishii Fondue Hot Pot. In 2002, Chef Khim opened his first restaurant, Thai Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, and later launched the THAI 5 food truck in South Tampa. The food truck quickly gained a loyal following, earning the title of "#1 Thai Restaurant in Tampa Bay for 2015" on Yelp and making Yelp’s Top 100 List in Tampa Bay. Fueled by this success, Chef Khim brought THAI 5 to a larger restaurant space in 2016. Today, he continues to cook with the same heart and dedication—always aiming to bring a smile to customers’ faces with every flavorful bite.
